There isn't much here yet because I am so busy with other projects.  However, here is a link to some ATCHLEY family genealogy and another link to GuitarNuts, my main internet project (BTW, this hasn't been updated in a long time but I've been working on a complete redesign of the site and new content for almost a year now - hopefully that will launch over the holidays).

Here is a little Java applet I'm working on. This is just an early beta version - once I get it working the way I'd like I'll move it to the GuitarNuts site. "Chord finders" are a dime a dozen - but you don't often see a good way of working the other direction - for a given fingering, what chords will it work with? If you click on the strings below to indicate finger positions, and then click the button, you'll get a popup window listing all of the reasonably common chords that set of notes will work with. They're scored and sorted so that the most likely candidates are listed first. Also, if you know the key of the song, the applet will use that information to adjust the scoring so that the most likely chords for the specified key will be ranked first.

Clicking behind the nut will alternate between an open string (no indication) and an unplayed string (big red "X").

You can select preset tunings for Bass (4- or 5-string), Guitar (6- or 7-string), Ukulele, Baritone Ukulele, and custom tunings for instruments having three to eight strings.

So, what good is this thing? Suppose you're dinking around and you come up with a pretty good fingerstyle arrangement - what accompaniment chords will work with it? This will tell you pretty quickly.

If you were using a Java-enabled browser you'd see a really neat finger-position to chord calculator for Bass (4- and 5-string), Guitar (6- and 7-string), Ukulele, Baritone Ukulele, and custom instruments with up to 8 strings.
